Please Help Michaela

We received the phone call about little Michaela about 10 days ago. A caring person found this 3 lb Poodle in the road, unable to walk. She had several gaping wounds in her neck, head and leg, with maggots in the wounds. Her hair was matted, and there was obvious damage to her eyes. Since we weren’t sure if there was even a chance for her, we had a vet check her before we went further. She was severely dehydrated and very anemic. But she just had the look of a fighter in her eyes. After getting fluids and getting rid of maggots, the vet told us she might not be saveable and no doubt, would lose one eye, if not both. But while one of our volunteers was at our clinic singing, she started to sing in her cage. From that moment, we knew this little dog really had heart and would be a real fighter. We are now trying to build up her blood, in order to have surgery to remove one or possibly both of her eyes. She cries when she needs to go out to potty and just loves human attention. She is going to require extensive medical care for a while, in addition to her eye surgery. If anyone is interested in donating to her cause please use the donation button to the right.

Come Visit Us

We are very interested in keeping our pets people friendly and in an environment that is as close to home as we can get. Because of this concept, we have daily human contact with our animals at the Adoption Center or keep some of our animals in "foster home" settings. Our wonderful volunteers open their hearts and homes to adoptee pets until permanent homes are found. To visit any animal the the Marshall County Humane Society has for adoption, please call 662-564-2900 for an appointment.
